The Association is currently providing economic aid to various cancer sufferers on the island in financial need.
The Association has just bought a car for use of the nursing operatives who transport around the island to treat and give palliative care to cancer victims in their homes.
As part of the islands, anti-smoking campaign, the Association is funding the provision of 'cosimetro' machines for local medical centers to monitor the amount of carbon dioxide in the air breathed by smokers.
The Association, in conjuction with the comedy theatre group 'Comica', is preparing a series of theatrical productions in island schools to make children aware at an early age of the hazards of smoking and excessive exposure to sunlight.The performances will also provide advice on healthy diets & help children in their interaction with cancer patients.They will be entertaining as well as informative to enable easy acceptance by child audiences a more appealing and effective way than simply lecturing children on these important topics.
The Association is funding the decoration and furnishing of the chemotherapy room and a new waiting-room area at the hospital Can Misses. This will make these areas more comfortable and amenable to cancer patients.The waiting room area will also provide new backup information and advice for cancer patients and thier families.
The Association plans to help to those women in financial need who wish to use the new digital breast cancer monitoring now available on the island.
In conjuction with Can Misses, a new cancer register has been astablished on the island to keep records and study the incidence of different types of cancer on the islands.
The Association is a beneficial organisation represented by a local executive committe and voluntary helpers who work totally free for the association.Any island resident who has any special need related to cancer whithin thier family, or who wishes to join or help the Association should contact
