Lenny, founder and the man behind Ibizarre Records

Lenny was born Lennart Krarup in Copenhagen, Denmark 1972. From the tender age of seven he started showing serious interest in oriental/ethnic, electronic and classical music. In 1988 the Acid House revolution took over and became a massive influence on him. In 1990 he travelled to Ibiza for the first time and fell in love with the island, the people and, most of all, the music. He moved to the island shortly after with nothing but two suitcases full of synths and sequencers.

Lenny first emerged in Ibiza in 1997 with his debut "The Ambient Collection"; a refreshing laid-back affair encapsulating Ibiza's chilled environment. "An amalgamation of slow-burning funked-up retro-grooves clad in subliminal soundscapes of tender melancholy and inner peace", as he puts it in his own words. The Ambient Collections represent the very fruit of Lenny's work.

For three years running he has held a prime-time DJ slot as the Sunday resident at the Café Del Mar. Today his music can be found on Ibiza Chill-Out CD compilations, TV adverts and programs, Videos and DVD and the organiser of the 7 day Dreamdaze festival here. After concluding a worldwide distribution deal with Warner Music UK in November 2000, this season his sessions in Europe includes The Big Chill Enchanted Gardens in the UK, Dance Valley in Amsterdam and Israel's Hugo Gardens, NAMM 2001 in Los Angeles and the WMC.

The Ambient Collections Vol. 1-4       
These albums represent the very finest work of Ibizarre. Every volume compiles the ambient experiments that Lenny conjures during the solemn winters in Ibiza. In a way it can be seen as a his musical biography. Within these compiled works are some of Lennys best collaborations, most of which are prolific Ibiza artists or collaborations with friends who regularly pass by the white island. All the music is 100% inspired, written, performed and produced at his studios in Ibiza.

All of the artwork is painted by Alex Jarman and designed by Eva and Hjordis at the Blue Cactus. Presently Lenny is busy working on the next ambient collections which are scheduled to be released early this season. Until recently the albums were only available in Ibiza and on his web-site, which made them unique to Ibiza. So if you want to float and fly, you're in very good hands...
