There are few pleasures in life as fine as lying on a beach listening to the waves as they lap at your feet. When it gets too hot, it's just a very short walk to immerse yourself and cool right down before repeating this exercise, indefinitely.
The only problem with this pursuit of bliss is that it can get boring - once you've counted the number of grains of sand on the beach, you don't really want to start over and do it again?
This is the point at which a magazine can be a life-saver and a huge selection, in a variety of languages, can be found at any of the numerous good newsagents scattered around the island.
They have two major advantages over newspapers when you're on the beach. The pictures are almost always in colour (if you can't understand the language of the accompanying text) and if you're all wet or oily , you don't end up with a mirror image of the page you were about to read next stuck to your leg, because the paper and print quality are higher - and the price of course.
But how do you put a price on the pursuit of bliss?
