This is the sister café to the Oasis in Playa d’en Bossa and is run to the same successful formula – typical English food of the highest quality throughout the day. It is, thank god, a little slice of England tucked away in the civilized corner of San Antonio Bay.
Glynn and Tony run the show from 9 am till midnight every day and their extensive menu is available all day long. The fact that the local workers all eat here is a testament to the quality of the food. In fact nowadays it’s best to book beforehand for their Sunday roasts, as these are invariably sold out on the day.
OASIS BAY - SNACK BAR RESTAURANT
The Oasis can be found by following the coastal bay road until you reach the Playa Bella hotel, turn right immediately before the Spar supermarket and the café is on your right, opposite the Calas de Ibiza hotel.
With the beach only 30 seconds away you could call it a perfect location. Certainly for those on the beach, the cold beers in frozen glasses have proved irresistible. Or maybe it’s the music that keeps them there – expect subtle chilled out, ambient and funky rhythms to aid your digestion.
The large open frontage makes for bright and airy premises with comfy chairs – no white plastic here! – and at night, with candles on the tables, people find it almost impossible to walk on by, which makes for a friendly holiday atmosphere.
In fact the friendly attentive and happy staff are perhaps the major secret to their success. Another factor is the way the place is decorated and arranged. Glyn is a photographer by trade and his eye for décor comes through clearly in the way that this comfortable restaurant is laid out. Not crowded, yet comfortably cosy.
