Cash Fall

San Antonio’s budget for 2010 will be €24.7 million, 7.7 per cent less than this year.  The reason for the drop, according to the deputy mayor, Joan Pantaleoni, is the fall in taxes recouped from the general public due to the crisis.  He explained that a substantial amount of people had asked to delay payment of their municipal taxes, whilst fewer businesses had opened, which all in all ensured around €850,000 less was collected by the Town Hall.

Investment within the municipality is also down by 51.7 per cent, although this has been affected by the large number of projects financed by other administrations.  However, a total of €1.8 million will be invested by the Town Hall, with the Can Coix sports centre receiving the lion’s share (€569,887).  The project aims to build a swimming pool, football pitch and changing rooms in the area.

€276,600 will also be spent on transforming a 2,000 m2 piece of land close to Café del Mar into a park with a basketball court and outside area for activities.
