Possible Parking Formentera

by adminman on December 25, 2009

The President of the Port Authority, Francesc Triay, on a visit to Formentera on Monday, announced his administration wanted to convert part of a building located within the port into a car park.  He explained that the lease of the building in question was due to expire in a few months, and he was considering turning the first floor and terrace into a car park to ease the traffic congestion in the area.

The ground floor of the building is currently used as commercial space, with a car rental agency, amongst others, working out of one of the shops.  Whilst these will remain commercial, the first floor, where apartments are located, can potentially be turned into a car park.

A few years ago the Town Hall wanted to build an underground car park in the zone, but that had to be ruled out due to the high cost and lack of finances at the time.  However, Triay thinks he may now have found the solution, although he said the idea was very much in an embryonic stage.
