Tax Freeze

Santa Eulalia has agreed to freeze municipal taxes in 2010 after the budget announcement on Monday.  The Town Hall will have a total of €27.9 million at its disposal, 2.3 per cent less than this year.  However, whilst the cost of personnel in 2010 has been increased by 7.7 per cent, up to €9.2 million, running costs have been cut by 6.5 per cent.

The Councillor for the Economy, Pere Mari, announced investment within the municipal was set to fall by 10.5 per cent, with a total of 16.9 per cent of the budget reserved for this purpose.  However, this is due to the fact subsidies from the Government in Madrid have been cut, as he underlined the fact the municipal would be dedicating the same amount of money for investment as in previous years.  He made special mention to the drainage work in Cala Llenya costing €875,000, and work on calle Cesar Puget costing €425,000, which is all due to be carried out in 2010, and all part of a total investment of €4.7 million.

Mayor Vicent Mari said it had been a reserved budget which had been adapted in line with the current economic climate.
