Ibiza is an island which is 79 km off the coast of the city of Valencia in Spain and located in the Mediterranean Sea part of the Baleares. Ibiza has beautiful golden beaches & magical blue warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. It is an island that comes into a trend each year between the months of May and October. Ibiza is also called “WHITE ISLAND” with over 50 beautiful beaches adding to more than 50 km/30 miles of stunning coastline. 1)    Nature Walks: – The walks are usually conducted in large groups and is a great way to meet people and share common interests about the island. Ibiza is also home to nature parks and in 1999 it was named “World Heritage”;  Ses Salinas Nature Park is situated to the south of the island. There are huge salt lakes, and in summer they dry up leaving huge deposits of salt underneath. People suffering from Arthritis can also benefit from iodine present in the air. Huge Pine trees and wild herbs such as Romero (rosemary) and Salvia (sage) grow all over the island. A good chance you will see some of this when walking.

2)    Cycling :- One can enjoy cycling in Ibiza during winters, when the average temperature is around 15 degrees and cycling is a comfortable experience. During summer the temperature gets up to 30 degrees, cycling becomes more difficult because of the heat, but still it’s not impossible and can be rather a pleasant experience to tour around the Island on a bicycle.  Cycling gives you a chance to explore the island to the core which is not otherwise possible for an average tourist in Ibiza. There are several companies offering an operating tour which takes you through challenging routes with tough tracks and forests to easy routes on the quiet roads; but most treks will provide you with a gorgeous view of the sea. We recommend looking for operators that provide sunset tours, in which one can ride to the top of the highest mountain on Ibiza and watch the sun setting over the ocean.

3)    Horse Riding: – Like the cycling and walking, horse riding is also an excellent way to explore the forest and nearby places in Ibiza. There are many horse sanctuaries on the island and some take the Can Mayol riding lessons for riding, jumping and for practice. All ages are eligible for the classes and programs range from one hour class to a two day trek across the island. 4)    Party: – Ibiza is definitely the party capital of the world. It is crowded young clubbers. Ibiza has some of the best clubs in Europe a must see for anybody who likes a bit of nightlife. On a normal party night  in Ibiza, world renowned DJ’s host unforgettable nights, like David Guetta party in Pacha, in Ibiza and Carl Cox in SPACE- which is in Playa d’en Bossa- Rock Nights Party- Faithless sound system for the rock party night, also hold a night in space where fantastic live music is played. Party tourists move between one of the four big towns in Ibiza – Ibiza town, San Antonio, Playa Den Bossa and Santa Eulalia. Drinks are a little more expensive in all the big clubs, but the crowd just doesn’t stop coming and the atmosphere is something well worth experiencing. You may want to enjoy some cheaper drinks at various smaller bars which offer happy hours prices. Playa d’en Boss, is considered to be a place to chill out and you can find plenty of places that DJ’s play in the evening with huge cocktails available. All clubs are mostly open from 12 A.M.- 6 A.M. and all have fabulous every night of the season.

5)    Diving: – Great Barrier Reef & the Red Sea are the most chosen points for Scuba diving in the world, but if you are a beginner or do not know how to scuba dive then Ibiza is a great place to start. If you are looking for some cheap scuba dives or looking to learn how to scuba dive then look no further than Arenal Diving, many private companies offer full PADI training for a week or a day that covers theory, practical training and a dive. Ibiza caters to beautiful aquatic life – Seahorses, turtles and a myriad variety of fishes are seen around the seas of the island. There are also underwater caves which can be reached only by trained divers; luminescent fishes can also be seen here. Adventurous tourists can take spectacular dives around the isles that surround Ibiza.

April begins with the Sun in Aries which it entered on March 20^th the Spring Equinox, then travelling through Aries until April 19^th when it moves into Taurus.  Aries is ruled by Mars the warrior planet and symbolises our ‘right to exist’.  “Do it MY way…. NOW” is Aries, lacking the diplomacy of Libra which simply says…”Be reasonable… Do it my way”.  Aries people get things done…. Well they certainly get them started anyway.  Of course, there’s much more to your chart than the Sun sign.  For example, Saturn tells us where your fears and insecurities are, Venus tells us where you are loved, and Jupiter tells us where we expand with good fortune.  And the rising sign… The zodiac sign rising on the Eastern horizon at your moment of birth indicates the sort of ‘face’ you wear for the world to see.

So, last weekend when four good friends on the island enjoyed their Solar Returns it was interesting to notice their individual differences.  Their similarity is that they are all ‘doers’.  They get things done – each one in a different style, but each one unstoppable in their own individual way.  I caught up with some of them for a little partying – Thank you all! – I wish you all many many very happy and healthy Solar Returns.

Of course, Mars is topical too because since late January it has been ‘retrograde’ – appearing to travel backwards in the heavens.  It doesn’t travel backwards of course, it only appears to because of its own orbit, and relative to the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.  During this period it runs close to Earth, and thereby exerts a greater influence, which explains in part why over the past months we have seen an intensity of violence and aggression worldwide.  Mars turns ‘direct’ on April 13^th, moving back over the ground it retrograded, then moving onwards and upwards.  That should signify some reduction in the raw aggression that is Mars on full song.

There should also be an easing of the intensity of people who have lots of Mars influence in their charts, be it Sun sign, rising sign, or at their mid-heaven.

Of course just as one door closes, another opens…. And sure enough, on April 10^th, Pluto turns retrograde….. More of that next week, but it sure will be interesting.

Well, Easter is upon us, the time to celebrate the coming of spring.  Originally a Pagan festival Ostara which was held on the Spring Equinox in March, it was also celebrated by the Jewish Church at the first Full Moon after the equinox as the time of the Passover.  The Christian Church , while seeking to establish itself, and based on the belief that the Crucifixion occurred around the time of the Passover then  chose the spring festival as an occasion to celebrate.  They based their Easter festival on a date, being the first Sunday after the Full Moon which followed the Equinox.  The first Full Moon after the Equinox is on April 6^th (a Super Moon too!), and the first Sunday to follow that is April 8^th.

Eostre, which became Easter originated with that great scholar ‘The Venerable Bede’ around 700AD as he took the name of the Pagan Goddess of fertility and adapted it to ‘Easter’.

So what do we celebrate at Easter?  The coming of Spring?  The Passover?  The Crucifixion? Well, I suppose you pays your money and you takes your choice….

The Full Moon on Good Friday is another Super Moon, bringing with it some extremes as the Moon makes a close pass on its orbit of Earth.  Weather will be a little extreme, with disruption caused by the Moon crossing the equator on the 5^th, the Full Moon on the 6^th, and then the Moon changing from Southerly movement to Northerly movement on the 11^th.  At least after the 11^th Moon will pull warmer weather with it!

Welcome to February, the month when Neptune enters Pisces, which it rules jointly with Jupiter.  Pisces, the two fishes swimming in opposite directions.  Ambivalent, capable of seeing both sides of any story, and now host to Neptune, who fogs, muddles and dissolves.  In all the darkness of deep Neptune, amidst the swirling waters or fog, the old order is being dissolved, and a new order mystically appears.  This is  global order change, but like any fog it pervades everywhere, so think local too…. but slow….. until Neptune first moves on to Aries in 2024.  The fog is like a dream – an eerie silent like transformation, but dreams can be nightmares for some, and so it will be for fourteen years.  Dreams will turn to nightmares, and nightmares will evolve into dreams.  Indeed – The times they are a changin’…….  Bob Dylan wrote that when Neptune as in another water sign, Scorpio.  Deep, intense Scorpio, with a sting in its tail.  But Pisces slowly pulls you down to the very depths of the oceans to the dark and unknown….. slowly drowning old ideas and moving to a swirling new unknown which we may never ever really get a firm hand on.  Almost as if an endorsement of the move, the Sun moves into Pisces on the 18^th.  This month…… think Pisces….. keep thinking Pisces and keep on thinking Pisces.!

Well, I did say that February would be an interesting month.

I suppose it started a bit early with the sudden demise of Spanair.  Sad, but no surprise, considering all the life-support cash they were receiving from the government.  They were the third airline to fall in 2012, and since Spanair died, the Hungarian national airline has fallen too.  But some will thrive where others die.  Iberia it is reported has recently been simulator training some of it’s pilots on planes it does not use….. But which Spanair did!  Iberia were ahead of the game.  Prediction anyone, that Iberia will pick up a set of aeroplanes cheap?  More Pluto in Capricorn.  Flawed structures collapsing.

Two biggish earthquakes rocked the planet during the week.  One in Vanuatu, the other off the coast of Vancouver.  Just a little cage rattling by the planet.

An interesting forecast during the week came from the world renowned Boston Consulting Group (BCG) who were commissioned by Google to look at the development of the ‘internet based economy’.  In the report, they predict that the value of the web economy will double by 2016. And that’s just four years away. Many current businesses will not survive.  Many new businesses will take their place.  Uranus in Aries in action.

Uranus in Aries again in Syria – plus Neptune in Pisces.  Another regime on the brink….. and the last two big ones supporting it.  Russia and China vetoed the UN resolution to bring a halt to the government slaughter of protesters. They both have skeletons in their cupboards, China’s invasion and oppression of Tibet for example has brought worldwide protest and support for the Dali Lama.  Russia this week has more protests against rigged ‘elections’.  Such flawed structures can only fail.  Keep watching. And the ongoing Leveson enquiry?  Oh yes, that still rumbles, as the media crumbles.

Oh… almost forgot…. To quote another astrologer…. I went to a riot and a football match broke out!  Egypt – Uranus in Aries.

The New Moon on the 21^st is in Pisces,   Moon conjunct the Sun, so we are in darkness – termed the ‘dark of the Moon’.  This is a time when we can connect with the ‘other world’ of our unconscious both personal and the ‘collective unconscious’ that Jung described.  In close conjunction to Sun and Moon is Neptune – modern ruler of Pisces, and described as the Great Dissolver.  Close conjunct too is Chiron, the Wounder, Healer and the Teacher.  My feeling is that following so close to the entry of Neptune into Pisces, this particular New Moon will have an unusually strong effect on us all.  This is Neptune in Pisces’ first New Moon and I think with such a powerful stellium, Neptune will make it a party which runs and runs.

On with the daily transits then, but I expect I’ll be back next week with an update on what’s happening.  “As above, so below”; harmony is the first great law of nature; the earth simply reflects the heavens.

And that’s it for February, except to point out that’s it’s a leap year, so we have a February 29^th, that special day when tradition is inverted and a woman may ask for a man’s hand in marriage.  Remember that marriages are made in heaven…. But so too are thunder and lightning!

Well, we’ve all survived (more or less) the excesses of Christmas and the New Year celebrations into 2012, and it will not be the last.  Next year this time, I shall be here writing with hindsight about the myth of the Mayan Armageddon in December 2012.

We may see an end to nations and the birth of new ones, an end to societies and the birth of new ones, and of course the end of economic systems and the birth of new ones.  But we will not be seeing an end to the world. (well I suppose we wouldn’t would we?)

I promised a forecast of 2012, and because January is fairly quiet it will be here next week, but for the moment my usually monthly look at what will be happening.  I’ll take this new year for a timely reminder that ‘The stars impel, they do not compel’ which means that we always have free will to do or not do what we choose.  Of course, with free will, we always need to have the will to do what we know is best; whether we are led astray into temptation, that’s a different matter.

January….. is a quiet month astrologically, with no dramatic transits occurring….. That starts later in early February!  Just a few things moving into place for what promises to be another exciting and interesting year. Having said that, we may well see some changes on/around the 13^th as the Moon moves from North to South of the equator in its wobbly path around the Earth.  With the after effects of the last eclipse, there could be a crisis for the Euro, which has already starting to suffer a crisis in confidence.  Just to add to the drama, a few thunderstorms might provide a backdrop as temperatures drop and our mild winter begins to chill.   The following week, around the 19^th could see another pothole being encountered, so watch the Euro, and the winds too.  The 23^rd sees a New Moon in Aquarius at the same time as Mars has stationed in Virgo before it’s retrograde period. Ominous too.

Well, here we are – last month of the year, and certainly not going out with a whimper.  Of course the excitement of last month continues with Mars stoking up Saturn, Mars and Pluto.  The pepper spray incident in the USA, plus the shenanigans in Syria, the public workers strike in UK, the impending collapse of the Eurozone, plus several earthquakes across the globe are all examples of what I predicted.

This month there’s more of the same influence, PLUS the last lunar eclipse of the year, AND the winter Solstice!  Who ever said astrology’s not exciting???

The violence and public unrest will continue, there will be stronger feelings of injustice as authorities attempt to keep control, but remember, ‘The government should be afraid of the people’.  The UK riots are now revealed as being a back-lash against the police, who have gradually lost the respect of many people.  I was brought up to believe that “A policeman is your friend”  I cannot say that it is one of my continuing beliefs.  Certainly the scene of a battle dressed policeman discharging a pepper spray canister directly into the faces of peaceful protesters sitting in a line shocked the world.  However it simply broadcast what people already knew – the police were easily capable and willing to commit thuggery.  European police forces should take heed.

The Full Moon in Gemini falls on the 10^th during the afternoon, and the eclipse can be seen just after Moon Rise between 5 – 5.30.  Eclipses have a lasting effect – around six months for a lunar event.  The Moon is in Gemini – so communication and technology is the theme.  The two factors which make this one special is that Mars in Virgo is square the Moon and Sun, suggesting that some very precise (Virgo) but compulsive (Mars) words will be voiced.  The Moon is in the second house of wealth, so I think we shall hear some hard home truths about economies in general.  Standing in the wings at the moment of the eclipse is Uranus in Aries.  Not simply Uranus, but Uranus stationary!  Standing still, focussed, staring at what’s happening…… Uranus the ‘bolt of lightning’ effect….  But fortunately Uranus is in the 11^th house of society and good fortune.  Maybe there will be a sudden (Uranus) societal reaction to world events, and maybe some will be compulsive (Mars), but there will be ‘gifts from the King’ as the textbooks say, from that 11^th house – and I think that will be more than just Santa Claus!  Problem is with Uranus, we must always expect the unexpected, but at least there’s some good news for the months to come.  Remember – eclipses have a 6 months influence!

And the Solstice!  Normally the major event of December, but somewhat overawed this year by the powerful planetary activities.  The shortest day, the day when the Sun enters Capricorn, the Solstice was celebrated by Pagans and Druids as the promise of the Cosmos that darkness would fall no more, and light would return. It is a new beginning – almost like a New Moon, but the Solstice marks the New Year, the darkest moment after which everything gets better.  A time for celebration indeed!  So, be awake at 06.30 on the 22^nd and join me in quiet contemplation of the coming year.  I know some will say that New Year is the rollover from December to January, but that’s only because the church and the Romans fiddled the calendars, but the Holly and the Ivy, plus the Mistletoe bear witness to the Pagan and Druid origins of the season.

PART 2

One of the nice things about dramatic activity and action around the world is that it becomes so much easier to say ‘…told you so…’  And so it is again this week.  Big earthquake in Mexico, much of Scotland without power due to horrendous gales.  Major upheaval and resistance to the established order across the world, especially in Syria, and now growing in Russia, leaving the troubles in Libya, Bahrain, Pakistan and Afghanistan seeming like a storm in a teacup.  Of course the UK is in the news for daring to stand against handing domination and control of Europe to Germany; but I think Britain’s been there before!

In coming weeks I think a recent trigger for action will be the death from ‘natural causes’ in custody of a protester in China.  The Chinese authorities have a dilemma with the downturn is the rest of the world causing millions worldwide to cut their spending – and that means a cold wind is about to blow in China, with cuts in growth and raised expectations.

Did you see the eclipse?  I confess I did not because here it was only partially visible.  Many parts of the world did, and we will all feel its effects over the next six months.  A new awakening, a watershed of technological progress, and possibly a watershed of philosophical understanding.  Will the world wake up at last I wonder?

Of course next week we see the winter Solstice, the moment when the Earth reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun which it orbits.  That creates the shortest day/longest night phenomenon which is celebrated worldwide by every culture both ancient and modern.  The Aztecs, the Mayans, the ancient Egyptians all celebrated this festival of the dawning of a new year.  As mentioned last week, various fiddling with calendars by the Romans and the churches have caused the Western world to celebrate the relatively modern ‘Christmas’.  Solstice occurs at 06.30 on December 22^nd as the Sun enters zodiac sign Capricorn.  At that precise moment, the Sun exactly squares dramatic Uranus, suggesting a season of dramatic happenings; it is exactly trine to Jupiter, promising hope and expansion.  Those will be the major themes for the next three months.  The Sun has passed several aspects with Chiron, Mars and Neptune, but we have already seen the shattering of dreams, the wounding and the wars.  The trine of Saturn to both Chiron and Neptune suggests that given discipline, our hopes and dreams can be kept alive, and the suffering we currently endure will pass.  This year, the New Moon in Capricorn (there’s one every year) occurs just after the Solstice – It seems the Cosmos is telling us loud and clear of a new era.

And 2012?  Well, I’m still working on that one – It will be an overview of what the new year will bring.  The annual forecast for 2011 proved to be spot on, so watch out for the 2012 edition.

20 Dec 2011 to 14 Jan 2012 Venus Enters Aquarius: Everything is worth a try for the next few weeks, and branching out to have a little of each is what it’s all about. That of course includes taking the banal with the sublime, and if mixed tastes are not your style you may want to tread water for a while. On the other hand, there will be some dishes up for grabs you wish you’d known about earlier, so don’t turn a blind eye.

A petition to try and re-instate winter flights to European destinations has been started by a well-known local businessman Martin Makepeace. A few weeks ago the Island Council announced that it would not be renewing its agreement with low-cost airline Ryanair. Ryanair received a subsidy from the Balearic Government in return for offering international flights to a handful of European destinations. A meeting was held last week by the group with the Councillor for Tourism on the Island, Carmen Ferrer. In the near future they plan a meeting in Mallorca to speak directly to the Balearic Government. The more signatures they have the more bargaining power they have to push for a result.

This is a copy of the letter to that was presented to Councillor Carmen Ferrer on Friday.

Dear Ms Ferrer
We have started an online petition which now has over 1,600 signatures (in just 7 days) asking you to re-think your decision and strategy not to pay the previously agreed subsidy to Ryanair so they can operate international flights during the winter months.
We understand that in these economically difficult times it is a challenge to subsidise an airline to operate flights, but we believe you have a very simple decision to make on behalf of the island population.
Decision 1: Do business with Ryanair and we get several international flights per week from Italy, Germany and England bringing thousands of people in and out of the island and contributing substantial amounts to the local economy, stimulating the property market and promoting Ibiza as a winter tourist destination.
Decision 2: Shut the door to Ryanair and isolate Ibiza once again, seriously shaking the confidence of potential investors and those who want to visit family and friends or discover Ibiza as a winter destination. Most of these people say they are not prepared to travel via Barcelona or Mallorca etc at extra cost and time.
Ibiza is a world class brand and product and should be operated on a 12 month basis and we hope that the island government will try and find a way for the busy and prosperous summer months to cover some of the costs of the quieter, challenging winter months. International flights are a fundamental basis of our island economy and without these we cannot hope to compete with our neighbours and other destinations who are more than happy to do business with the low-cost carriers.
The good news is that we have spoken to Ryanair and the door remains open so we strongly urge you, as the government representing all the people of Ibiza, to speak to them again and help put Ibiza on the world map not just in the summer season but all year round.

Hmmmmmm….. Where to start?  We seem to be cursed to live in interesting times!

Autumnal Equinox occurred during mid-morning last Friday (23^rd).  The nights now become longer than the days, following the Sun slipping into Libra to mark the magic moment.

Equinox means “equal night” and this happens because the Sun is positioned above the equator and at this time of the year – day and night are equal in length all over the world. This also happens at the Spring Equinox in March.

Weather patterns were predicted from quarter day observations in old country folklore, and in modern times, astro-meteorologists use the points of the four quarter days to give a broad prediction for the next three months.

From it I can tell you that the next three months will see generally quite cold crisp dry weather, the blustery winds of the summer will abate, and we will have some fiercely sunny days; cold but sunny. The risk too of some exciting electric storms too.   The chart (as they all do) carries a puzzle, with Neptune ominously hovering retrograde.  Some cold cloudy days I would guess.

Each New Moon too gives its forecast for the following lunar cycle of 28 days, and each week sees an aspect formed between Moon and Sun which provides a weekly forecast.

Looking back at September, there was a rare conjunction during late-morning yesterday (Sept 27^th) with five planets in Libra. The Sun, Moon, and Mercury in close conjunction, while Saturn and Venus sat in conjunction a little farther on.  Both those conjunctions suggest strongly conflicting emotions – internal conflict (maybe external too!)  producing sudden outbursts as Mercury in placid Libra is precisely opposed by Uranus in aggressive Aries.   New Moons suggest the start of things…. Hopefully it’s not a continuing theme.

Let me add fuel to that particular fire by observing that the aforementioned stellium in Libra emphasises a T square, with Uranus in opposition to it and Pluto square to both the stellium and Uranus.  So…. Add intense pressure indicated by Pluto and sudden and unexpected happenings from Uranus……  I suspect from other factors in the chart that it may have connections with property and wealth, – not huge amounts, but that owned by most ordinary folk.  The current fragility of the Eurozone makes me fearful that this may be a tipping point.  I hope not, and the composition of the stellium at least gives me optimism.  I think nevertheless that we will see a crisis peak around this time.  Some good news though, with Venus aligning with Saturn on the 30^th.  The sunrise chart for that day suggests that solutions will be found.  Maybe the world will put on its sensible shoes at last and we’ll turn the corner….

So many planets so close together on one side of the Earth have strong gravitational pulls, especially with the Moon crossing the equator on the 26^th, and closing to Perigee on the 28^th.  All of which distorts the Earth’s crust, producing higher tides and possibly earthquake activity.  Hmmmmm….. a not-so-funny time.

Moving onto October, life ambles along without any big dramas obvious.

Full Moon on the 12^th is in aggressive Aries, opposing the Sun in peace loving Libra.  An interesting conjunction of Sun and Saturn on the 13^th follows closely.  New Moon in Scorpio on the 26^th and that’s the headline news for October.  The first week of so of October sees mostly Lunar aspects forming and parting, as Moon flits past the others, creating one emotion one moment and another emotion next moment.

On then with the day-to-day transits interpretations; some this week, more next.  Remember that if your ruling sign or rising sign planets are involver you’ll probably feel the effect more than some others, and the effect rises and falls over the period indicated.

01 Oct 2011 to 04 Oct 2011 Mars Square Jupiter: Upward spirals consume evermore energy without making much upward progress, and those urging on their stallions may actually be beating a dead horse. Wasting energy in the interest of imagined accomplishment can really tax resources, so take a second look before you jump in and burden yourself in the general fray.

06 Oct 2011 to 07 Oct 2011 Mercury Conjunction Saturn: It may be hard to get your head into gear, but once you do, you can go into great detail. Thoroughness is the watchword and you will not want to be in the company of scatterbrains. With the ‘Thinker’ as the model, there is the risk of taking things too seriously, but anything begun now will wind up a heavyweight for sure.

07 Oct 2011 to 08 Oct 2011 Venus Trine Neptune: Getting creative and dreaming up new joys and pleasures comes with ease, and there are plenty of others playing in that sandbox, so share and share alike. Spiritual and material pleasures do not need to conflict, but can go hand in hand for self-satisfaction and the benefit of all. Believe it, and it will come true.

09 Oct 2011 to 02 Nov 2011 Venus Enters Scorpio: The hunt for objects of desire is in full swing for a few weeks, so expect  some very intense satiation all around. It doesn’t show much on the surface, but when the doors close and the shades go down, it’s all the way – literally or figuratively. Dipping your toe in is not what’s happening now, so beware if you try to — you may be pulled in headlong with the rest.

12 Oct 2011 to 12 Oct 2011 Moon Opposition Sun: Full Moon  in Libra brings fruition, but also high emotional tides; what you do now may turn out to have been overdone when you look back on it. Deals sealed now may swing erratically later on, but if kept under control will be fat and fruitful. This is the time for plucking the fruit from the tree, not planting one.

Ibiza Astroblog October – part two

Well, as expected the Supermoon brought some dramatic weather during the past week.  Now we have a short period of respite before the busy time at the end of the month.  Lots of things coming to fruition, and one major thing starting.  Mars commences a phase which in past times has brought dramatic events around the world.  And so it will be again.  Starting at the end of October and lasting through ‘til June 2012.  Mars – warrior planet, ruler of Aries and traditional ruler of Scorpio.  I’ll expand on it more next week.
