Cala Llonga small family resort

Ten kilometres from Ibiza town along the coast road to Santa Eulalia, and five kilometres before reaching the latter, lies the beach resort of Cala Llonga. The village hasn't been here for very long, but the pretty little bay with a huge beach and steep pine clad hills on either side was a favoured haunt of smugglers for at least 500 years.
As the picture taken three decades ago shows, the only access to the 'village' then was a rough camino, or boat. Nowadays it is a flourishing and bustling resort with all of the amenities that you would expect to find in this day and age.

Fully developed as a tourist resort it retains a remarkable ability to be sheltered on a blustery spring or even winter day, yet conjures up a nice breeze on hot summer days when the wind blows in hot from the Sahara desert across that bluest of seas to the south.

It was largely developed by British entrepreneurs and retains a very British feel and clientele. No coincidence then that the island's only golf course is less that a mile away. A sport that involves a lot of walking anyway, so maybe better to take the car?

The village can be reached by ferry or bus from either Ibiza town or Santa Eulalia and the trip is very pleasant on the eye...

Banks
No banks in Cala Llonga! There is one credit card machine(ATM).And plenty of places will exchange money including the hotels in Cala Llonga.There are banks in the near by town of Santa Eulalia. Most Banks are open from 9am to 2pm Monday to Friday.

Post
No Post office, lots of post boxes!

Petrol Stations
No Petrol station in Cala Llonga but there are two in the near by town of Santa Eulalia.
Petrol is sold as Super, Sin Plomo 95 and 98 (unleaded) and Gasoil (diesel). Most service stations are open from 07.00 to 23.00, although there are some which open 24 hours a day.

Medical
No hospital in Cala Llonga, but numerous medical centers and chemists.
All chemist's shops display a large green cross outside (Farmacias). They are open usually between 09.30 to 13.30 and 17.00 to 21.00. See Medical Numbers
