Small family holiday resort |
1. Enjoy the beach, obviously. It's the deepest beach on the island, favoured by the Spanish as well as other tourists. Great for families as there are amenities all about, from the playground to the pedalloes and banana boats, all watched over by lifeguards. When you're hungry or thirsty there are two beach bars with drinks and hot snacks and if you need further fortification the beach is literally ringed with restaurants and cafes. It's a blue-flag beach, too, so the water is guaranteed pure and the swimming is great.
2. Take up scuba-diving. If you've not tried this incredibly exhilarating sport before, then there's no time like the present to take it up. Beginners are given lessons in the hotel swimming pool before progressing into open water, but there are plenty of places for the more advanced diver also. The waters all around Ibiza are perfect for diving. There are wrecks and caves to explore, as well as the reefs and rocks teeming with all sorts of marine life.
3. Take the road to Sol D'en Serra. At the very end of the village take the road leading right (TasteCriolla restaurant will be on your left) and follow it until you run out of road. If you're driving, then be aware that the road turns a little bumpy. You've found the beautiful, exclusive beach of Sol D'en Serra. Amenities are scarce, so bring your own umbrella. This is not an official nudist beach, though nudity is not unknown. At the head of the beach there is a really good fish restaurant, though fish is not compulsory and there are plenty of other dishes on the menu.
4. Try the nightlife. Cala Llonga may be set up to be a family-oriented resort but there is still a whole stack of things to get up to come the sunset. The restaurants won't close until very late, and there is a great variety of gourmet eating to be had here. Most of the bars stay open until ungodly hours of the mornings and you'll be very spoiled for a choice of watering-hole. Then there is the entertainment, of course. Aside from the hotels which will have their own agendas, there is plenty of entertainment to be found in the form of live music and cabaret acts such as hypnotists, drag-acts and more at different places throughout the village. The Up N Inn and Mister Cairo's are two such popular venues.
5. Hunt down Cala Blanca, the white beach. For those of you who really want to get off the beaten track, this is the ideal test of your footwear. Cala Blanca can be found beyond Valverde, along a winding dirt track. At the end of the track is an enormous tunnel through the cliffs which is the only way to reach this secluded spot. You can find the full write up for Cala Blanca on our beaches page.
