Restaurant El Muelle
Located on Paseo Juan Aparico
This restaurant is a cracker, it looks lovely both inside and out. The service is efficient; the staff are smart and speak English. Generally speaking this is an Italian but covers several nationalities. The pizzas are to die for and the steaks are good too. It is a more expensive restaurant but well worth a visit.
Murphys on the park
Located on Calle San Policarpo, near the park of the nations
Our local, this is a big bar located in Edificio Europa II and is wholly Irish owned. The service is great, there is regular entertainment including bands. They need a big screen TV for footy but who knows? This is a busy Irish British bar and is good to natter. Drinks are dearer than Spanish bars. Also they have a new pool table, 1 euro a game.
The Indian Palace
Located Avda. De la Purisima 61
96 571 55 80
This is a nice walk down the front with a waddle home. This is the best Indian I have ever had. Very good service coupled with a great menu. The NAANS are the best. The prices are very reasonable. Give it a try.
Durty Nellys Irish Bar
96 570 42 43
Located on the corner of Mar Baltico and Pola de siero, near playa de locos.
Probably the best Irish bar in town. Entertainment, food, big bar area, English pool, good service. One of my favourites. Entertainment on most nights and BIG SCREEN FOOTY. Sunday lunch here is hard to beat. I recommend going to watch footy on a Sunday and have a Sunday lunch, great Sunday out.
Nan King Chinese Restaurant.
Located on Calle Orihuela, at the top near the roundabout and petrol station.
The best chino I have had, it is very popular and busy. The service is great. If you took the set menu, you receive a full bottle of wine and fee rice spirit at the end. Stuffed as a pig for 21E for two including the bottle of wine, how do they do it?
The Thirsty Monk
adjacent to Bar Carlos on the site of the Friday
A nice tiny Irish bar, that regularly holds karaoke and the like. The bar cannot fit many in but has a unique atmosphere all the same. We were treated to Seamus and Paddy (not a joke) singing "ive got a brand new combine harvester" in a broad Irish accent, its memories like that you remember always. Worth a visit if only on route to somewhere else.
San Francisco bar
Located on calle
This bar is purely Spanish and has seating outside, it is great to go when the Anglo Irish bars are closed, the beer is so cheap!!!!. A good place to practice your Spanish.
The Underground bar
Located on calle montesinos
What a bar, rather southern in its feel (for obvious reasons). This has a great round of entertainment. The DJ dressed, as a convict is great, there is dancing, pool, karaoke, sitting out and food. A must. Drinks are averagely priced. There is a pool table.
Bar 103
Located on the beach front directly in front of the end of calle Montesinos. At the back of super market Dial prix.
A good British bar with food and drink whilst watching the med flow in front of you. Sometimes I believe there is entertainment in the evening. Service is good prices are average. A good breakfast is served here and next door at "surf n turf".
Indian on the beach
Located next door to Bar 103
A good Indian, especially the daily menu del dia. A tad on the expensive side for evening food, but worth a visit particularly during the day for the special. Service good. Menu del dia was 9 E for a meal, beer and a chapatti.
Corre caminos (road runners)
Located on the Avda. De las Haberneras near the sea end..
A good Mexican type saloon bar, full of Hispanic characters. Good service, reasonable prices. A pool table and a quiz machine try and beat my score if you can.. (al n Sal)
La Troika
Located on the Puerto deportivo marina international 96 570 37 07
The best restaurant in town (in my opinion), located on the fantastic harbour side, this restaurant has a fantastic menu, fantastic service, and a real feel of sophistication. Presentation is second to none. Prices are expensive for Spain but cheap for UK. You could be in Puerto Banus. A good last night to remember.
Monroes
Located on Calle caballero de Rodas about 100 yards further towards Alicante from the main church.
This is an unusual nighttime disco bar based on the theme of Marilyn Monroe, there are pictures & memorabilia everywhere. It is British owned and is a very late bar; personally I have never seen it close. The bar plays an unusual mix of remixed classics from the 70s-90s very loudly. There is also a quiz machine and pool table. Well worth a visit. Drinks are averagely priced.
El Paso
Located on Avda. De Valencianos at the Torrevieja next to a Chinese restaurant and a car main dealership.
This bar is truly American in origin, it is another saloon bar. The drinks are pricey but you do get free peanuts!! I like this bar and it has a band on Thursdays. The bar is full of American memorabilia. Individual bar and good on a route.
The lounge bar
Located on Avda de Valencianos on the exit from Torrevieja, past the needle monument and near the Mercadona supermarket.
A bit of Benidorm in Torrevieja, this bar boasts entertainment every night, Ricky Valance was there last year! Comedians, singers, karaoke, premiership matches. This bar is a little out of town but well worth a call.
BAR Carlos
Located near the Friday Market.
This bar is famous for the cocktail sequence on Twos Country with Tim Grundy. It has a lovely patio area, a big bar area and is popular with Brits and Spanish alike. This bar has all footie matches and serves good but plain food. Service is very good , and the prices are average.
The Bar area Playa de los Locos
Located on and around Mar Baltic (near Durty Nellys)
Bar Pegasus is a smart square bar area with a stage and karaoke area. It has Karaoke every night of the week and is good on a good night. Service is hit and miss and the prices are average.
Typsy Mcstaggers is a small bar very friendly and cosy, they have the usual quizzes and karaoke.
Popeyes bar is one of the oldest Brit bars in Torrevieja . A small bar that does an amazing amount of trade. They show all the sports and are below average prices. You can buy a jug of beer cheaply here.
The Tavern, george Key. This is located back to back with Popeyes and is a lovely bar, well fitted out.
Murphys which is located on the front at playa de los locos (beach of the mad) was one of the first Brit bars in the area, it has "gone Irish" and they have sports TV and good Sunday lunches.
Bar uno
Located on Avda de la purisima 61 near the Indian palace 965717603
This bar is British and is quite good for a chinwag. There is a pool table and they show footie on a TV. The Sunday lunch is very good. Owners are Alan and Toni.
El Charro Negro
Located in Plaza waldo near the fountain and sandwiched between a chino and an Italian.
This was my favourite restaurant in town until they put up the prices! A lovely restaurant with staff dressed in authentic garb. The interior decoration is great. Service is a little frosty and prices are now expensive. Mexican food is served here from Burritos to Chimechangas.
Queen burger
Located Rambla de Juan Mateo (town centre)
Most famous for being the victim of a bomb attack in 2002. This although a fast food bar is worth it whether for late night munchies or a snack. It sells burgers (obviously) and kebabs which are fantastic, they are priced reasonably and are served in a typically Spanish fast food way.
The latin corner
Located on Calle Ramon Gallud number 23 965719960
This is an unusual place but it is quite pleasant. The food is a cross between Mexican/Spanish/Columbian which makes for some interesting combos. It is not made for a British palate, more Hispanic which adds to the charm but makes the meal look strange to us but if you tuck in, you will not regret it. Price is very reasonable and the service was very good.
The Vegetarian restaurant
Located centrally on the street that runs behind Plaza Waldo.
This restaurant is reputedly run by an Australian, and I can honestly say it is the best vegetarian restaurant I have experienced. Price is rather expensive for Spain. This restaurant is very popular, surprisingly so when you think Spain is not famous for vegetarianism. My Aussie amigo who visited it, remarked that he had "an a*se like a didgeridoo" the day after, probably the roughage!!
Restaurant Jaunjos
Located at the bottom of Calle san Policarpo.
From outside this restaurant looks rather sad but inside it is much better. The food is pretty good; steaks and pizzas seem the order of the day. The service is excellent, the prices are good.
Shirelles Karaoke bar
Located on Avda. De Dr Gregorio Maranon at the rear of Playa de Acequion.
A lovely light and well fitted out bar. Run by two girls, this bar is great, they are both good singers. If the bar gets busy, which I have to say I have not yet seen it could be great! Service by a young lad was poor and prices were average. There is an Indian across the road to make up the full night out!
The Torretta strip
Located on Urbanuisation Torretta III which is located to the rear of Torrevieja town directly behind the parque of the naciones (about 15 mins).
Here you will find a group of bars that are a mixture of Brit/Spanish, I could imagine some people who live locally never venture out of this area as there are places for everything, a supermarket, restaurants, bars etc.
The Plough, is a large welcoming bar/restaurant that is popular with the Brits, the Menu del dia is very good and the steaks are excellent. The veranda is a nice sit out place and I believe they have BBQs every Saturday night. There is also a pool table
Shanes bar, run by classic friendly scousers this bar is another Brit haunt and is good for a bit of banter. Also the food from the restaurant (particularly the ribs) looks fantastic.
Bar el gordo, I think this is a play on words as this mean fat in Spanish and the bar is long and thin, good bar for a natter and the quiz on Thursdays is a good one. This bar has been featured on tv.
KC's bar, seems very well attended good for a natter drink is very reasonable. There is a quiz but check the day.
The Steak house offers good steaks at reasonable prices and has a constant smell of BBQ, which is very tempting. In 2002 they had an excellent party for Halloween for the kids it was great!
Flower of Scotland. This bar is small but very friendly, the landlord being the nicest I met on one of my many trips, it pays to be nice to El Al. The food looks great; particularly a chicken dish they were serving that had enough to feed three.
Onkel Ottos, famous Bavarian type restaurant. I have yet to indulge.
There are one or two other bars here that need reviewing so watch this space.
Swagat Indian restaurant
Located at 68 Avda. Dr. Gregorio Maranon (at the back of playa de Acequion)
Good Indian, service good prices average worth a visit, but personally I prefer the Indian Palace.
The Miramar (or seesea)
Located on the harbour on Paseo Vista Alegre
This is a top place, loads of tables on a covered veranda, their food is great and so is the atmosphere over looking the med and the boats in the harbour. It is great on Sundays when Spanish families come out to play! There are two pool tables.
Stefans Restaurant.
Located at the sea end of Avda de las Habaneras.
This restaurant (which has its own website) is a rave restaurant with food from all over the world. Definitely more big meal than snack. An excellent night out. Prices dearer than norm but a must if you are a "foodie".
The 24 hour bar
Located towards the bottom (near the sea) of Calle Madrid, look out for HOTEL MADRID. The bar is next to the garish ice cream parlour on the next block.
When all else fails there is always 24hr bar, as suggested this opens 24hours a day and is a very typical Spanish bar in every other way. When all the other bars close go there with your amigos and drink til dawn. This is not the bars real name!
Meson de la costa
Located centrally just 5 mins walk from the burger king on the front on the street behind.
This typically Spanish restaurant has to be seen from every angle to be appreciated, it is an amazing architectural building. This is a waxy ham paradise, severed limbs are bountiful! Ask to see their wine cellar, it is huge and holds wine floor to ceiling. I saw a barrel of octopi just sat ready to be cooked at the doorway. An experience. The service is excellent and the price is dear for Spain.
La Cantina
Located on the paseo near the harbour walkway and the burger king.
This bar is another long thin saloon type bar, totally Cuban as the name suggests (there are links with Cuba and Torrevieja, sailors, gold, south America, need I say any more. This bar is a Hispanic disco bar and later on you will see them dance the samba, very cultural and fun. Be warned the drinks are dear, but I am not sure whether there is a scale depending on how rich your country of origin is !
Bar Street
Located on Calle Heraclio and the surrounding streets. Find Keeper bar near the "Old man of the sea" monument and the walkway and you have made it. There are dozens of disco bars here. The area is growing every time I come. They are mostly themed disco bars for 18-30s, pre dominantly Spanish, no boobs and bums exposure here, sorry lads. The bars are a good night out but be warned they do not get going til after twelve.
Here you will find Nina Bonitas, Simpsons, Pajero loco (mad bird, how apt), Kennedys, Neo, Magani, Wind and Rain (under ground disco), Bar Antigua, and so many more its difficult to name all.
The Harp stands out as the true Irish bar there and they do karaoke etc.
In this area you can dance, talk on outside tables, drink yourself to oblivion and party on, and get a kebab for the way home. PROBABLY DEAREST AREA FOR DRINK! (But hey we are on our hols!)
Pacha and KKO night clubs
Located on an Industrial estate immediately to the rear of the town, you cannot miss these SUPER CLUBS, as when they are open there are searchlights in the sky to bring all comers to the party.
They were moved here to avoid noise and congestion. These only get going after 1 at night, so they are really for the party animals. They hold regular foam parties and I believe are great. Pacha is a sister club to the famous Ibiza party club.
The Bell
Located on Calle Caballero de Rodas, a couple of hundred yards from the church square going towards Alicante.
This bar is a typical British bar catering mainly for a day time trade in fish and chips, bacon butties etc. They are rarely open when I visit but I have never received good service but the prices are reasonable. Shame they do not open at night. On my most recent trip they were more friendly and we ate many sausage sarnies there, very good but a little dear for me.
Café Central.
Located in the central church square namely Plaza de la Constitution.
A great place to eat and drink in the afternoons. The food is great, the patatas Bravas being the best I have ever tasted. The menu is extensive and is all quality. You can drink coffee or something stronger and watch the world go by. Service is good and the prices are fair. Internally the walls are covered in scarves of footie teams from around the world.
Chino Hong Kong
Located on the road running from plaza waldo towards Calle Ramon Gallud.
The first chino we visited on our first stay. The prices were so cheap we had to ask if the set meal was each or for both, to our great surprise it was for two. You as is usual in Spanish chinos you get a free bottle of wine, and spirits afterwards. Great centrally located Chinese. Service great. Prices greater.
Bar Antiguo
Located up the road from the above chino.
A British haunt that you have to queue for. It sells all home made meals, including favourites, such as steak and kidney pie, cheese pie, fish and chips etc. a delight in a town of foreign cuisine. A Brit and a Scand run it.
Sands bistro.
If you find the columns, sort of roman totem poles on the front and walk back two streets you will find the sands. A wholly British concern this bar is difficult to get into and you can tell why when you eat the typically British dishes on offer . Excellent in every respect, including prices.
Sabores (flavours)
Located opposite Popeyes bar near playa de los locos.
The first thing you will notice is the fluorescent lighting. A futuristic and very smart design. This is an excellent restaurant run by Brits and is good to go before a session at the bars near playa de los locos.. Prices are reasonable and service is good.
Corkeys Irish bar
Located within a stones throw of bar Carlos near the Friday market on Calle .
This bar is a good Irish bar, plenty of nattering and good bar food. There are a few tables outside and an amusing set of regulars.
Bar Rendezous
Located opposite corkeys irish bar.
This bar is run by an expat uk copper, evening all! A good friendly bar with many Brits. The Sunday night quiz is great but do not put a silly name as your team name as this will not be tolerated! Brian the bar man is a star! They also do food but I have no experience of this (c'mon I would be the size of a small donkey by now) . The beer prices are very reasonable.
The Galeria, Tris Tras, Lancelot, and the Facultidad.
Located on Avda de las Habaneras about 200 yards from the bus depot, and about 500 yards from the sea end of the Avda.
Late night disco bars/underground clubs, very late and very Spanish not for the faint hearted. The Galeria is popular with Brit/Irish bar workers and is probably the best one to visit (at about 3am). Good bars but pricey for Spain so get tanked up in the cheaper bars, you have been warned.
IK Mullins Irish Bar
Located on Calle can be found by walking down Avda. de las Habaneras.
This was the first Irish bar in town (although it is really Spanish). It is a big bar, with good fittings and good atmosphere. There is seating outside and good food. The service is excellent with Brits and Irish youngsters as waiters. They screen the footie and have regular groups as entertainment. Booze is dear!
Coral island
Located as the first beach bar on playa de Acequion from the Torre end.
A frontline beach bar, that is welcoming and fun. The bar is good when you are on the beach and need a drink or a snack. Prices are reasonable and so is the food.
Shirleys Bar
Located on calle san Miguel de las salinas,, at the far end past the vw garage.
Shirley is a scouser, and is very friendly, I went in alone and vowed to return as she cares for her customers so everyone feels welcome. I believe this was one of the first UK bars in Torre. A nice local. With a UK pool table.
Bar 222
Located at the end of Playa de los locos right at the back of the apartment block at angle out into the sea.
What a place, a pizzeria, horno de lena (typically Spanish) bar and disco area. A sort of complex with palm trees and beach hut style kiosks, there is also a very smart mural on entry. This is rumoured to be the LATE bar in that area. Prices are slightly more expensive and service is good. English is spoken. Good for a session!
The entertainment complex
Located on the Crevillente road not far from Carrefour on the way back into Torre town.
Here is the Palacio de la Caribe apparently a nightclub for all ages, but beware you pay up at the end and prepare for a shock. There is a casino, KFC, a bowling alley, a cinema, and many other bars and restaurants. This area is smart and is really aimed at the Spanish but bowling could keep the kids happy whilst you have a drink.
Shannons Irish Bar (and the commercials next to it)
Located on the Crevillente road a little past Carrefour on the left going from Torre town, look out for a chino, and a wooden fronted Irish bar.
This bar in my opinion is the smartest set up of any Irish bar in the town, the patio is wooden with original type features and cast tables, the inside is very smart and must have cost loads. The service is very good, the prices are ok, and the footy screens are great, unhindered by pillars etc. well worth a visit.
The other bars include:-
The Lemon tree a new bar set up by Lancastrians who are lovely and friendly, their bar is reasonably priced and has a nice sheltered patio that has great winter sun. They make food.
The Chip shop a true English chippy, I did not go in but the place was busy (a good sign) and it looked bright and fresh. They do both sit in or take away.
The row also has a couple of cafes and a pie shop.
The Old Tower
Located on calle caballero de rodas, the street with the main church on it. (about 50 feet past the church)
This bar has been closed for two years, someone has decided to reopen it, yeah!. It is very smart and another Irish bar. The food looks good, but I cannot tell you more until it gets going a little more!!
Jack and Theresas Bar.
Located centrally on calle rambla de juan mateo near the Brazil ferreteria
A good local with many brits, and a nice (southern) landlady. We had a couple here and were most welcome
The Missipi Queen
Located on Calle Morera in la mata, near the park of Molino de agua (watermill).
What a place, a real steam ship, land locked with a restaurant built into it. Fantastic setting, fantastic food, great service. A total must, even if its just for the experience.the park along side is also truly beautiful.
