Es Rickshaw
In the heart of Santa Eulalia's famous Restaurant Street, where specific restaurants can often be hard to find because there are so many shoulder to shoulder along this unusual street!
Es Rickshaw is the exception by virtue of having a ‘rickshaw' parked on the outside pavement. This exceptionally distinctive feature makes the restaurant unmissable, but also gives a clue to another important message. Most of the restaurants on the street are of generally restricted space and would have slotted at least another two tables into the space occupied by the emblematic rickshaw. Es rickshaw, on the other hand, is not cluttered, but spacious and relaxing leaving plenty of space for intimacy and privacy, to allow guests to properly appreciate the rather exceptional dishes that the kitchen delivers with such pride.
The owners refer to their establishment as a ‘lounge fusion' restaurant, rather than a dining room – which both emphasizes the relaxing environment and refers to the food. The cuisine is an extremely successful fusion of classic Mediterranean and exotic Asian styles, both in terms of flavours and decorative styles, largely as a result of the owner's extensive Asian travels.
Obviously many of these were made on a rickshaw, which is a mode of travel similar to the bicycle. Travelling at such a lack of pace allows one to become part of the environment rather than simply passing through it. It is that slow pace Es Rickshaw feel is important to truly savour interesting food in a comfortable environment that is is unusual, if not unique, on the bustling Restaurant Street .
They are open every day from 8 pm to midnight, but reservation is a good idea with so few tables and such good food.
