Ibiza Postal Services

Post

When buying postcards the shop assistant will normally ask if you want stamps as well - be sure to ask for them!  If you happen to buy them without the stamps then go to the local tobacconist shop and they will sell them to you they generally also sell postcards so a good idea to do the 'one stop shopping'.

You can buy stamps at the local post office (Correos) but as there is only one in each major town (ie: only 3 on the Island) then this will take a lot of your valuable holiday time!  There are quite a few post boxes spread around the resorts - easily recognizable they are bright yellow with the word 'correos'  across the front.

If you are staying at a hotel they normally provide postal facilities -some even have stamps. Expect postcards to take around 5/7 days to reach the UK letters can - if you are lucky take only 3/5 days.

If you have moved to Ibiza on a more permanent basis then unless you live within a town you will require a 'postal address' mail is not delivered out of town. You can go to the local 'Correos' (Post Office) and ask for a post box  (apartado box) if they have one available you will pay a yearly subscription/rental fee to maintain this box and be given a key. The cost is around 50 euros per annum.

The 'correos' is open daily so you can go in and check you mail as often as you like. If you are a distance away from one of the main post offices then there are local supermarkets and bars who have a number of these 'boxes' and you can rent one from them direct (if they have one available) - ask a friendly expat to guide you to the nearest place.

Correos - Post service in SpainThe postal service is generally good and has the same type of services as the UK you can send letters registered/signed for express delivery etc. The good point is you do not wait in as many queues as in the UK post offices!
