"Recipes from MANNA Ibiza" is a cookery book with a difference! It is full of recipes from all sorts of people both living on and regularly visiting Ibiza and Formentera, so expect delicacies from all around the world.
It has been produced to be raise money for the benefit of the English Speaking Church of Ibiza and Formentera, in order to raise funds for good causes on the islands, such as helping those less fortunate than oneself, for example, those much appreciatedd hospital visits which are an essential part of oiling the wheels of spiritual support.
It includes over 80 wonderful recipes, each with a little anecdote from their author about where the recipe originated or why it was chosen. For example: I hear our girls saying "mum makes the best chicken liver pate ever!" and it makes me smile.
This sausage and fruit stuffing is an adaptation of a recipe that first appeared in the Sunday Times colour supplement under the heading "Lifespan in the 70's". Everyone who has tried it loves it!
There are also recipes from a number of restaurants and businesses on the island such as The Gallery, Es Galliner, the Banyan Palace and Cafes Ibiza and some wonderful colour illustrations by pupils from the Morna International College. You will find everything from a champagne breakfast, to olive ice cream and a chocolate mousse. Or maybe you would prefer wild Pitiusan fennel risotto or a cherry and marzipan loaf!
The book only costs a minimum donation of 12 euros and can be acquired at any of the English Speaking Church services on the island, from the British Consulate in Ibiza town, Pike's Hotel, Can Truy or the offices of the Ibiza NOW.
Why not take this book to the next dinner party to which you're invited and make a change from the traditional bottle of wine, which won't still be there on your next visit?
