The Restaurant Street of Santa Eulalia has achieved fabled status on the island, in much the same way that the Hippy markets are internationally renowned.
Some 200 metres long, it begins to the side of the Town hall and runs parallel to the town's main road - the Calle San Jaime.
The street's real name is the Calle San Vicente - who was, perhaps, the patron saint of restaurants? There are 17 on this short stretch of street!
There is so much competition for pavement space on the street that they used to put big tubs of flowers out to prevent traffic from using it, otherwise no customers would safely be able to reach any of the restaurants, and the occasional busker or fire-eater would have no stage upon which to perform! Nowadays, the street has been pedestrianised making even more room for the tables outside the restaurants on what used to be the pavements.
One might expect a fair bit of variety and one will not be disappointed.
