Good food, good wine, and good company at Dona Regina!
Miss it and you miss out!
‘Dona Regina’ is run by Paco, who offers fresh fish and meat beautifully cooked by wife Isabel. Two of my favourites are the slow roasted shoulder of lamb, or the mixed fish platter. If you love fish, Paco’s (or should I say Isabel’s) fish platter will be a lasting memory of your holiday! Paella on Sundays...? This is a favourite place to watch F1 on Sky (or football) on the big screen TVs over paella and glass or three of house wine, or a few ‘canyas’ (beers). Their Sunday roast is famous and fabulous too!
What’s Dona Regina about…? Good food and good fun!
Breakfast is from 9am for early birds, and goodness me, it is a Breakfast!! The kitchen closes at11.30pm, but Paco and his team are there for you, if you want to make a night of it.
Regina has 24 places inside with air-con (which are strictly non-smoking) and 80 outside, with most of them featuring cooling shade, and allowing a beautiful view down to the sea.
Situated on the beach square, on the corner facing the children’s playground, it’s opposite the tourist information kiosk and the bus stop.
Fantastic! This is a real not-to-miss place if you visit Cala Llonga.

Run by Paco and his wife Isabel for nine years, together with sons Cesar and Francis, Dona Regina is a strongly Spanish flavoured restaurant; but never ever let that put you off. Remember the saying – watch where the locals eat, then go there! And yes there are always lots of Spanish customers and locals like me who love the excellent food and warm atmosphere with some easy music, and all at great, great value.
Paco is one of the ‘Good Guys’ you meet in life, and his family follow his lead. In essence, Paco IS Dona Regina!
Dona Regina opens in April, and closes…… well it depends…. Paco likes people, and if there are people around, he stays open, but think early November time. Credit and debit cards are accepted, but not AmEx . Pets too are welcome… (everyone is here) - and that’s Paco!
You’re always greeted with a smile and a joke at busy Regina. Paco and Cesar sometimes seem almost run off their feet at times but loving every minute of it; the service with a smile never ever suffers. Paco’s energy is amazing as he ensures every customer has a welcome, a smile and enjoys their visit. (When he’s on a mission he’s affectionately known by locals as ‘Wakko-Paco’) But that’s Regina. A bit like Marmite really…. and I LOVE it. But Hey!, You’re English not Swiss; the English always enjoy a good laugh and joke and this is a happy place.
Whatever the occasion Regina delivers! When I did my ‘official’ research, I asked about dancing, Paco’s reply was YES! Of course!! Why not!!! We all love to dance! So… Ladies, quick, grab Paco, or even younger and more handsome Cesar for a quick Flamenco!! And daughters…. Look out for young (shy) Francis……
By the way…. Paco is a sucker for kids!! A great childrens’ menu, and lollipops for clean plates says it all. The Spanish love family life… and Paco is Spanish. Needless to say, high chairs are available, babies’ bottles can be warmed, and there’s room for changing too. Wheel chairs find easy access. Oh, and WiFi…. Coming soon – Paco has recently become a ‘Silver Surfer’ and joined the internet family, and promises to have WiFi available ‘soon’.
To be sure of a table, or instead, if you want a quiet night in on the terrace, call Paco or Cesar on 971 196 596 to reserve a table, or to order a take-away.
Typical price for an evening out for two, including wine… €35. That’s great VFM!
Great food at even greater prices!
I’ll be there for sure……….. see you soon!
