San Agustin

This tiny village, boasting one bar (open from 9 pm only) and a small supermarket, could be defined as a backwater. The main road from San José to San Antonio, alongside which the village stands midway between the two, misses it by a couple of kilometers and leaves it completely untouched and unknown, as nobody ever has any reason to go there.

The little hilltop hamlet surrounding the imposing church is picturesque and unspoilt, but the hillsides around with their olive, almond and carob trees are also ominously dotted with large villas - somewhat reminiscent of an encroaching stockbroker belt?
