Banyan Palace Click here for there full web page
Unrecognisable to anyone familiar with its former life, this potentially beautiful setting has been completely transformed to finally realise its true potential. Owner, Allen York - a regular visitor to and student of Thailand - has brought back to Ibiza a blend of that culture that extends from the Bangkok temple gold of the front gates to the street style hectic of the garden (opening in June), with flamboyant street sellers preparing the kind of portable snacks you would expect to find in a bustling Thai maket. |
Il Vaticano
This Roman looking facade in the back streets of San Antonio, just behind the sunset strip of Cafe del Mar, Savannah's and Mambo's, is an oasis in the mire of the majority of other eating alternatives in San Antonio. Unfortunately we haven't had the privilege of eating there yet, but rumour advises us that this place is special if you like to eat? The rumours are so good that we're saving up and organising transport as we write.
The Curry Club
C/. San Antonio 38
Tel 971 343 604
Allegedly the only curry house on the island, and definitely the only one offering 95 dishes in all, from poppadums through to desserts. A bewildering choice or an excuse to come back 95 times? The average main dish price is around 1.500 - 1.800 ptas. The setting itself is unreal for San Antonio. An enclosed garden hides this spectacular but beautiful restaurant with authentic Indian decor, trimmings and muzak. A true oasis alongside the West End, even down to the pretty Spanish barmaid chewing gum. This is the epitomy of 'international'.
Texmex
Ria's Baixa Restaurante
C/. Cervantes 14, Cala Gracio, San Antonio
A very posh restaurant in an unusual location in the back streets of San Antonio. Beautifully decorated and decked out in abundant white table cloths, a large lobster tank serves as a centre piece with waitresses fishing them out for dinner in between times. Predominantly a Galician fish restaurant with a stunning selection, that appears to be a favourite haunt of the local great and good?
Restaurante Es Ventall
C/. Cervantes 13, Cala Gracio, San Antonio
Another expensive and classy restaurant in an unusual location at the back of San Antonio. Again this one attracts local business folk, which is normally a good sign.
Coastline Café
Cala d'es Moro, San Antonio sunset strip
Villa Mercedes
A hotel with a grand piano in the downstairs restaurant. A distinctive building almost opposite the Club Nautico headquarters in San Antonio's port.
