| Port de San Miguel is also home to one of the world's most exclusive, expensive properties. The private island you can see from the beach is rumoured to have sold for something in the region of thirty-three million euros! Though not strictly speaking an island, as it is joined to the mainland by a narrow promontory, it is still quite easy to see why a property like this can command such an astronomical asking price. There is a public beach at the foot of this island, accessible from the west side of the beach (the left, as you look out to sea). The track starts at the back of the beach bar. But here's a little, badly-kept secret. When you take your trip to the local caves, and to see them is an absolute must on your trip, then stop at the cave's cafe-cum-reception centre on the mountainside and pop a euro in the telescope. Then you'll have an eagle-eye view of how the other half live. Like a live version of Hello magazine. Just don't tell them you heard it from us!
