Mirage
Mirage is a little hard to descibe except perhaps as a chameleon. It spends the daytimes catering for the café crowd overlooking the yachts of the marina - perhaps halfway between a snack bar and a restaurant, but determinedly chill-out till 10:30 at night.
From then till a little after midnight 'live' family entertainment takes to the stage. You can expect to find the likes of Dawn Allen, the Blues Band, the Skiffle Kings or a big dollop of karaoke on a Sunday evening. Thereafter a further mutation takes place as the action moves indoors. It's still 'live' music, but on a somewhat madder tip. The intention now is to create a party atmosphere and the entertainers rolled out at this time of night are definitely experts in their field. Hugh Kanza, of Pereyra fame, is resident from mid-July to the end of August and many of the other well known acts featuring are Dutch, simply because they are more 'high-energy' than other continental options. |
Dona Ana
A German run tapas bar with a nice outside terrace alongside the steps which serve as the main pedestrian entrance to the marina complex. The terrace is a popular spot at sunset as it is one of the last to catch the sun on Santa Eulalia's predominantly south east facing seafront. In addition to occasional live entertainment they usually have the football, which makes them a useful alternative when the other British football bars are overflowing. So, particularly useful this summer?

Restaurant Dona Margarita
Next door to Mirage as you begin to walk along the waterfront, this place has a large covered outside terrace and specialises in Spanish food e.g. Paella, Pescados (fish, usually bought that morning from the fisherman using the port) and Mariscos (shellfish - similar story). It may not be the cheapest meal in town, but they cater mainly for yacht owners and you can see a lot of yachts from most of these waterside establishments.
Sa Llesca
Enjoy an excellent selection of cheeses, hams and pates whilst sitting on the terrace of this beautiful restaurant with stunning views of the Marina and Formentera. Every table is set with a bottle of wine and a fresh tomato on every plate! Open from 6 pm every day except Mondays and from 9 am throughout the summer season.
Monaco Snack Bar
This is a little cafe serving Pizza amongst a few other basic dishes and sandwiches.Serving snacks, but with a nice big sheltered front terrace
New Shanghai Chinese Restaurant
The brand new Chinese restaurant in the marina, which may do well, but becomes the fifth in a town of many other culinary options. Has a good spot on the harbour road and a large covered terrace if the sun gets too hot or the evening too cool.
Maison Asturias
This is a rare cider bar, possibly the only one on the island serving the favoured drink of those from the Asturias region of Spain. It's quite an experience and worth a visit just to see how they serve it to you - from a great height.. They also serve the unique food from the same region which is reputedly very good and reasonable too.
Skuma
In a prime position at the vehicle entrance to the port and a little more up-market to capitalise on this fact. Class spot to be spotted at and enviously assumed to be wealthy yacht owner.
Yardeneys
Another up market corner site overlooking the most convenient, and therefore most expensive berths in the marina. They have a large sun terrace that sort of blends seamlessly into that of the Corsario next door.
El Corsario Negro
Another place with a nice covered terrace overlooking the yacht harbour, but more of a bar than a restaurant. They do serve a few meat and fish dishes and a small selection of Tex-Mex in addition to breakfasts and rolls.
Sunsea Bar
This is very much the German meeting point in Santa Eulalia at present and a very good spot to meet. Their outside sun terrace is fabulous in the afternoons as the sun goes down in an east coast town. If you've ever had German sausage and potato salad there, overlooking the marina on a sunny afternoon, your German is probably improving as quickly as mine? The rather pretty bar staff speak perfect English anyway, but it's more fun chatting them up in a foreign language.
La Taverneta
Next door to the Biergarten, of similar size and location, this is an Italian restaurant that has only recently opened so little is known of it yet. A stab in the dark would suggest that pasta and pizza may be on offer, but obviously a stab in the dark is not really good enough?
Bistro Mariposa
An intimate little bistro where all of the meals are "cooked to order with fresh produce". A nice relaxed spot, so don't go there if you're in a hurry. We suspect that they may be French?
La Olla
Again intimate, as in small inside with a few tables on the front terrace, but comfortable with plenty of room to enjoy the allegedly excellent food. The menu del dia comes recommended by fastidious friends.
Can Pasta
This is a distinctly Italian pasta restaurant that has taken over premises that unfortunately have 'Pizza' painted on the outside wall. They are very much 'pasta' specialists offering variations in all shapes and forms. Again a comfortable and laid back waterside restaurant.
El Rincon del Marinero
Which literally means 'Mariner's corner' is a Spanish run bar at the furthest end of the port from the town with a pleasant outside terrace onto which they serve Spanish meals and sandwiches.
